You know there is nothing better than some fresh spinach on a pizza. The pizzerias know how to add spinach to their pies and the end result is nothing but perfection. But, what about adding spinach to homemade pizza? Well I’ll tell you the best way to do it.
Place it Under the Cheese!
Ideally, you will want to place the spinach on your pizza under the cheese. The reason behind this is that it will not dry out. If you place it on the top of the pizza, it can get crispy and you already know that crispy spinach is not the way to go.
Best Way to Prepare the Spinach for the Pizza
You can essentially wash the spinach and throw it on the pizza, but that will not be as flavorful.
If you want some ideas, you can look at these suggestions from the guys over at pizzamaking.com
Dirtydave “I have used frozen chopped spinach in pizza and it has worked out well. I thawed it, squeezed the water out of it and sautéed it in a little olive oil and added some salt and pepper and some chopped garlic.”
Nepa-pizza-snob “I saute a garic glove, dried basil, chipotle chili pepper, and salt in olive oil then add fresh spinach for 1-2 min while tossing.”
I like it chopped and raw on my pies, truly fresh this way.
