Can you freeze an apple crisp? I am pretty sure inquiring minds would like to know and you know what, I am going to put you at ease and tell you yes! You can definitely freeze and store an apple crisp for consumption later. It is a fairly quick process and if you have excess, you can always pack it away, so that you can enjoy it another day.
So What’s The Process?
When it comes to freezing an apple crisp, the process is quite simple and it won’t take anytime to do. When done properly, you should be able to store this dessert for a couple of months and it would taste almost the same as when you first had it.
Step 1
If you have an apple crisp you want to freeze, the first thing you will need to do is let it cool before you begin the process.
Step 2
Once it is cooled properly, you will now cut it up into manageable pieces that will fit in the freezer bags, or you can have them in one portion sizes if you feel you will be taking them out at different times.
Step 3
After you have everything cut up, you can wrap the pieces in plastic/saran wrap. This is just an added layer of protection to prevent against freezer burn. If you do not have plastic wrap, you could also use aluminum foil.
Step 4
You will now place the wrapped pieces of apple crisp inside freezer bags. You are going to want to make sure that you squeeze out as much air as possible out of the bags. After that, seal the bags and that’s it, you are finished. It is a good idea to write the date that you placed the apple crisp into the freezer, just so you know how long it has been in there.
You should be able to store the apple crisp for up to 6 months. When it comes times to reheating it, that is also a quick process in itself. Just check out my reheating apple crisp guide for more details of how to warm it properly after having it in the freezer.
