How do you reheat jambalaya? That is a valid question ask, simply because it can be challenging to reheat rice dishes and if not done properly, you could end up with a disaster.
Luckily you ended up on this page 🙂 Below I am going to highlight the best options available when it comes to reheating and warming up jambalaya.
Please Note
Rice dishes need to be heated up properly, or you could possibly run the risk of food poisoning. Bacillus cereus, a bacterium that can cause food poisoning can survive in cooked rice, so to ensure that the bacterium is fully destroyed, reheat the rice properly.
The Microwave
I am not a big fan of the microwave, but it is an easy way to go about reheating jambalaya. You need to keep in mind that if you have shrimp in the rice, it may come out rubbery.
Steps:
- Place jambalaya in a microwave safe dish.
- Cover with plastic wrap or damp paper towel.
- Reheat for 30 seconds or until steaming hot.
- You will have to zap it longer if you are dealing with larger amounts.
- Once done, take out and serve.
The Oven
If you do not like using the microwave or you do not have one, you can also warm up jambalaya in the oven. This obviously takes a longer time than the microwave and there is also a possibility that it could get dried out.
Note: If you want to do it in the oven, it could be a good idea to lightly sprinkle the jambalaya with some water or broth. Make sure it is done lightly and not soaked, as you are going to end up with soggy disgusting rice. The moisture is just to add a bit of steam once it starts to reheat.
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 300° F.
- Place the jambalaya in an oven safe dish and cover with aluminum foil.
- Allow the dish to reheat for about 20-30 minutes (depending on the size or if it was coming from the fridge).
- Once the dish has been heated up thoroughly, take out and serve.
