Are your trying to figure out how to reheat a croissant properly?
Well, you are definitely at the right place.
Below, I will give you a quick step-by-step instructional guide that will show you the right way to warm-up a croissant.
With these steps you cannot go wrong, so lets get right into it.
How to Reheat Croissants: A Step-by-Guide
Having a nice warm and flaky croissant is one of life’s guilty pleasures. When you get the perfect one, it is difficult to just eat one and be satisfied, sometimes you have to over-indulge.
If you have croissants that have been in the fridge, freezer or been sitting out, you will want to warm the up, so you can enjoy that fresh out of the oven experience.
To do this, the best and recommend reheating method is to use the oven.
Oven/Toaster Oven: Best Way to Reheat a Croissant
The oven/toaster oven is the best method when it comes to reheating a croissant.
It will warm-up the pastry and have it tasting like when it was freshly made.
What you will need: oven, baking sheet and croissant.
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Place croissant on baking sheet and insert inside the oven.
- Keep croissant for about 5 to 10 minutes (Depending on the oven). You should constantly check to make sure that it is not heated up too much.
- Take out and enjoy.
If done properly, you should have a perfectly reheated croissant that is soft on the inside and has a nice flaky exterior.
Microwave: Should Not Be Used
If you think the best way to warm up a croissant is with the microwave, then you definitely need to cross that off the top of your list.
If you want ruined pastry, then go ahead and use this method.
While microwaves are quick, it can make this flaky pastry all soggy and disgusting.
What happens is that moisture is the enemy of flaky pastries. The microwave is allowed to run too long, what will happen is that the texture will change, it will be soggy and the croissant will be a hot mess.
If you do plan on using the microwave, you can blast the pastry for 10-15 seconds just to warm it up, especially the inside and from there you can throw it in the oven to get it perfectly heated up.
Thanks so much! I’ve wanted to know the answer to that question for years and now I know.
I use my toaster oven but no baking sheet – just put them on the rack. 350° for 8-12 minutes depending on size. Perfect!
Perfectly heated croissants. Kick it up a notch by drizzling warmed honey over them!
One thing I do with breaddy thing is splash them with H2O. Just use Ur judgment.
Best way slice croissant through middle put back together and put in oven for about 8 mins on 220 fan then you won’t loose much of that lovely pastry when slicing while hot
I’ve been using this method to defrost and then warm up regular (not chocolat, etc) croissants for years:
Right out of the freezer, into the microwave (on a little microwave-safe plate) for 2 minutes at Power 1, then turn them over for another two minutes at Power 1. Then remove to a 300 degree over for a minute or so. I use a baking rack (with the smaller criss-cross design than the oven rack) to let the hot air get to every part. Most important, be patient and keep checking until there is not a trace of cool or cold anywhere on the outside, they are hot to the touch but not rebaked. You’ll get the idea by doing.
They stay flaky, are warmed through–the key is to get some experience, some “feel” for your microwave–all are different–and always check that you are reducing microwave power to 1–a few mistakes like leaving the microwave on High and the deceased croissants will teach you!
